thatīs true
Jordi and his wife have a decent list of salads, that you can eat with goat cheese or blue cheese, fresh and delicious, they prepare their own peackles (dill cucumber pickles) and their salads are creative. bon apetit. They also have paninos and food is always good.

My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Sayulita. We honestly did not eat a bad meal the entire trip, but the new owners of La Iguana Azul get the professionalism award from us. We ate one breakfast and two lunches at this great little eatery, and all of them were fabulous. The third time we went in we ran into some complications with the spinach and romaine lettuce. Apparently that days shipment was no good, but we don't know how bad it was, because after checking the shipment the staff refused to serve it to us, saying that it did not come up to their standards for quality. Instead, they suggested a salad made with iceberg lettuce, and since we were in a salad mood, we went for that alternative. It was very good, served in large taco shell bowls with a side of great bread. The cook even brought us sample slices of a pizza he was trying out. At the end of the meal, the cook was still so embarassed about not being able to provide us with our original orders that he comped the entire meal (we still left a large tip for the outstanding service). We plan to go to Sayulita again next year, and we will be sure to bring our business back to this highly professional and customer satisfaction dedicated resteraunt.
... Oh, and if you need a recommendation for a great massage, ask the staff about "The Doctor."

Hi. We just returned from 2 weeks in Sayulita with our 3 boys (8, 9 and 12) and absolutely loved it! One of our favourite restaurants was Iguana Azul which is just up the street from Don Pedros. There is a new owner, Rick, who is a chef by trade and is from Toronto. The food is excellent. He is open for breakfast and lunch and makes awesome salads, sandwiches, omelettes, etc., and our boys' favourite breakfast was the Hungry Iguana - a huge plate full of excellent cinnamon french toast, pancake, sausage, eggs, ham, and the chef's signature potatoes - wow - yum! They also make a wide range of smoothies and healthy drinks. Everything we ate was wonderful and large portions. There is a patio out back that is surrounded by an iguana sanctuary so you can watch the iguanas while you eat. We really enjoyed chatting to Rick and wish him the best with his new endeavor. You gotta try this one!

We had a wonderful lunch on the back patio of Iguana Izul, the owner was so friendly and nice. I was craving some fresh, healthy food and this place really hit the spot. We had the veggie sandwich and the gazpacho soup. The owner brought us a taste of another soup they had just made and recommended a delicious spinach and fruit smoothie. We loved watching the iguanas as we ate.

My wife and I just returned from our first visit to Sayulita. We hadn't even eaten at Iguana Azul, just met Rick as we passed his restaurant on our way to the beach over the course of several days. One day I went fishing and caught a Red Snapper and a Crevalle Jack. I brought the fish to Rick straight from the boat and asked him if he could prepare it for our dinner that evening (they just started opening for dinner). A few hours later we arrived at Iguana Azul and were overwhelmed by the creativity, quality, presentation and taste of Rick's gourmet cooking. The fish was deliciously prepared; the snapper in a grape sauce with mango chutney, and the Jack marinated in a Cajun sauce with avocado cream topping. Since my wife doesn't eat fish, she ordered the cheese stuffed peppers and was delighted! We were well cared for by our waitress Heather and the women (forgot her name) who prepared the tasty salads and visited our table to say hi! Rick is a gracious host and I wish him all the best. Our only regret was discovering Iguana Azul on our last night in Sayulita instead of earlier in our stay so we could have gone more often. We'll be back!

They serve the BEST smoothies in town. Full of fruit, nuts, yogurt and dried fruit!
French toast was delicious and the owner seemed like a great guy.

We had a great breakfast there a couple of days ago. Rick's a terrific guy. There was so much food we couldn't finish it, which was a shame. Try the eggs benny with blue cheese sauce, it's great! And if you get the spinach and feta omelette, ask for some of the blue cheese sauce on the side and drizzle it over the omelette, it makes a huge difference and is really tasty. He also has the coolest bathroom sink!

Is this restaurant still open?

Yes it is! It's closed two days per week (not sure which days) but it's open for breakfast and lunch.

We've been there a few times in recent weeks. Rick is such a great host, despite the hard times brought on by the flood wiping out the back patios and palapas. He's slowly rebuilding, and I think steady business helps. Although many iguanas were lost, it's still a treat to take the kids and see them up in the trees.
Also, Rick will serve a great breakfast any time of day, always appreciated for us late risers.
It think he's closed Wednesdays and Thursdays, but it could be Thursdays and Fridays?
