Bicyclette Restaurante French Restaurant in North Sayulita
Posted 07 November 2005 - 08:20 AM (#1) Aaron
Usually only 3-4 main dish selections per night to ensure freshness. Sayulita's only real pate,
The tuna is great. Not cheap, but worth the price for a nice dinner out.

Bruno and Framboise, the owners of this wonderful little French restaurant, have created a warm, playful atmosphere, in the courtyard of their little Mexican casita. My husband and I enjoyed many evenings at Bicyclette last season, visiting with friends, dinning on Framboise's excellent cuisine and listening to Bruno's extensive music collection. We also find it a great after dinner destination for espresso and yummy Chocolate Mousse.
Merci, Bruno et Framboise, de créer cette oasis tranquille dans Sayulita. Baisers, Linda et Roger

the phone number is 2913634 its closed on sundays, my friend Shelly and I just had dinner there yesterday i had an amazing filet mignon with blue cheese sauce and a nice french merlot, my good friend David was playing the guitar the way he only knows how to and Bruno the owner was incredible, Jenn our waitress was so good with us and the place is incredible. Itīs expensive but worth it. And that blue "awful" drink itīs called absente, if you donīt feel adventourus donīt ask for it but itīs good to try.

Just tried the tapas menu last week. Had both samplers and they were superb as was the whole dining experience. I found that three glasses of absinthe was probably my limit. Did I really see another restaurant on fire when I walked home or was it the absinthe?

Well, we tried to go back this year. Last year we had a good experience here and wanted to go and have just dessert and drinks for a friend's birthday, plus there was going to be this bicycle band thing going on. Well, although they were still open, the server said that she would not seat us for dessert because the band was starting. I said that we'd be happy to pay the 20 pesos per person cover charge, but it's a friend's birthday and could we get just one dessert. She said no. I said that we were extremely flexible, but our friend wanted her birthday dessert--whatever was fine. She said no even though they still had 2 open tables and seats at the bar. Ah well, I said can we get something to go. She was getting very excited and gesticulating at this point and still said no. I asked to see the owner and she fetched him. He said no, we can listen to the band and that's all--they won't do any dessert (I guess the server was too busy sitting at the door while he and his wife were too busy chatting with some patrons). So, after being yelled at by the server and the owner, we left to Macondo for dessert.
We didn't want the world--we wanted a dessert. We would have paid the cover, would have bought drinks, and would have stayed into the night (it was a birthday celebration after all). Now I doubt if we'll ever go back.

That's good news. I miss their food but have not been to their place on the square because it was so noisy. I think a gourmet take-out place is a great idea for Sayulita. There are some extremely successful ones in Berkeley, CA.
