Was in Sayulita last March and ate at Tierra Viva, which is the open air place across from the plaza. This place was outstanding!
The plates were beautiful and fairly priced. We had the sashimi tuna to start and ordered the filet minon, short ribs, "fish in love" and the mango shrimp--all plates were cleaned in our group of 4. We all had plenty of wine and dessert and the bill was more than reasonable. Frankly we enjoyed our meal there more than Don Pedros and it was half the price.
After being in town for over a week most of the food in Sayulita was beginning to all taste the same to us and we were overjoyed to find something a little different. I very much hope to eat there again next year.

Tierra Viva- Tres Chic!
Posted 22 June 2007 - 03:22 PM (#2) Terri
Just returned from Sayulita and unfortunelty we didn't discover Tierra Viva until the final night or I KNOW we would have eaten at this restaurant often. It is absolutely wonderful. I started with a portabella mushroom salad with roquefert cheese - amazingly delicious and my boyfriend had the spinach salad which was excellent as well. For dinner I ordered the mixed shish kebob - it was loaded with shrimp, beef, veggies and some bananans. It was hot and arrived at the table right from the grill. My boyfriend had the arrechera steak and it literally melted in your mouth. The steak was every bit as delicious as the arrechera steak I had the night before at "Fiambala" - and don't get me wrong the food at "Fiambala" was quite good too.
The chef was very gracious and thanked us for coming. This restaurant was exceptional - if you're in Sayulita try it - you won't be disappointed. The prices are very reasonable as well.

The food here was fantastic and a perfect end to a wonderful evening. The unique spin on some traditional food was just what we were looking for. This menu offers something for everyone - even the kids and the prices compare to the rest of the restaurants in Sayulita. This place was a hit with our entire group. Without a doubt we will be back! This time with a bigger crowd!!

It's on Calle Marlin, one block up from the beach. Delish! Love it! A little pricey but well worth it.

I had chicken mole recently at Tierra Viva (I believe the cost was about 160 pesos). and it was awesome! Great wine too. And the service was outstanding. I love the outside dining area. Highly recommended!
