Car buying or car share?

7 posts in this topic

Hi there.

We visit the Sayulta area 3 to 4 times per year, and we are considering buying a car to keep there.  We have rented car numerous times, but it's pretty expensive, especially for a three week trip.  And we've only had positive experiences with two companies:  Gecko and Europcar.

We are wondering if there are people who may be interested in some sort of car share arrangement. Or in the alternative, any tips on buying a car and keeping it there?

Thanks for all of your help!

Gecko will store a car for $50 usd.

For $15 they will leave it in the Pvr parking when you arrive

When you leave  stop and pickup a driver at their office pay $15 and you get dropped off

They also will change oil etc. if you want

I assume (perhaps falsely) that you come to Mexico on a tourist visa? You can buy a car here on a tourist visa, but you will not be able to register it. One of those Mex. catch-22s.

My husband is a citizen, so I assume we won't have a problem.  Thanks!
