End of April crowds

10 posts in this topic

Hello. I am going back to Sayulita in the end of April and was wondering if the crowds will still be around. (April 25) I know Semana Santa is around this time and the beaches are crowded with Mexican vacationers. It was 2006 when I started visiting to Sayulita. Thank you for your time :)

Sayulita is now crowded much of the year.  It is a very popular place for people from Mexico as well as the US, Canada, Europe, and South America.

Very well aware of Sayulitas growth and popularity now but I am trying to avoid the Semana Santa crowds. I've been there once when it was a little too busy for my taste. I enjoyed the people but I didnt enjoy the dirty beaches. I googled the dates and it looks like I am going after but wanted to verify with someone on here. I could easily FB message a local friend there but I am trying to surprise :)

There won't be semana santa crowds, but it will be busy, it's always busy now even through the summer and rainy season.

Yes there are times when it's a little mellower than others but it's less predictable than when it used to be. There could be a mexican holiday/long weekend and droves of people will come in, or a huge wedding party (or 5). Then there is the case that you could get lucky and hit a lull, several weeks after semana santa there is usually a lull, when everyone goes back to school and work.

I remember going during the aftermath before and enjoyed it. It was my second time going, been there 9 times throughout the years. Of course it is always a great time to go, but this trip I'm looking for a relaxing time :) Ive seen through pictures the growth and updates to the town. Cant wait to see old friends. Thanks for everyones help.

There really isn't any "slow season" in Sayulita anymore. The week after Semana Santa may be a bit more mellow, but definitely keep in mind Spring Break for American tourists. Last year after Semana Santa there was maybe two or three days of down time, and then a slew of wedding parties, college students on spring break, and weekend warriors. However, this isn't to say you can't enjoy Sayulita. If you have a place already booked, and want to enjoy the beaches, the great restaurants, and take some surf, SUP, Yoga or fitness classes, Sayulita will have everything you could want!
