CALAKMUL RESTAURANT

WE WATCHED THIS RESTAURANT BEING BUILT LAST YEAR & STOPPED IN THIS YEAR TO CHECK IT OUT. THE BEER & MIXED DRINK PRICES WERE CHEAP COMPARED TO MOST IN TOWN. ALL OF THE MIXED DRINKS ARE MADE WITH ONLY MAJOR NAME BRAND ALCOHOL AND WERE VERY GOOD. THE BAR TENDERS AND WAITING STAFF WERE ALWAYS VERY POLITE AND MORE THAN WILLING TO PLEASE YOU. THE FOOD
PRICES ARE VERY REASONABLE FOR THE PORTION SIZE YOU GET (BIG, LEFT OVERS TO GO). THE CHEF THEY HAVE IS BEST BY FAR IN SAYULITA. WE TRIED OVER 3/4 OF THE MENU WHILE WE WERE THERE OVER 3&1/2 WEEKS AND DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING WE DIDN' T LIKE. THEY HAVE MUSIC IN THE BAR WITH LIVE MUSIC OCCASIONALLY WHICH WAS OUTSTANDING. THE 2 MANAGERS WILL BEND OVER BACKWARDS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE TAKEN CARE OF. WE WOULD RATE THIS RESTAURANT A 5 STAR & WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

We 2nd that....great vibes... a great place to socialize with the tourist and the locals. The Lounge atmosphere is an added touch.

Our group sat at the VIP table for dinner, sitting 12 feet above the ground in our own balcony was very cool. the distant music and breeze was awesome.

Be careful...the drinks are strong... haha.

:) We had an awesome experience at Calakmul Restaraunt during Thankkgiving week. The Food was 5 star...Excellent! We started with a mayan appetizer and Sopa de Lima. Then our entree was a Mayan special of shrimp. It really was quite different than the other restaurants with excellent service and good prices. Oh and the margaritas were top notch! the chef has been trained in the US so he knows what people like!
Calakmul restaurant is located right before the bridge as you are heading into town...and they play great music there too! We will be back!

I went the last week of November. They had a cool Brazilian band there. Great mix of people. The best Margaritas, none of that fake stuff. The shrimp calakmul was excellent!!!! My friends had the steaks which were big and at a great price. If you go say hello to the chef Joel !!!

Calakmul has lost its chef, DJ and staff due to a dispute with the owner, so, if it's open at all, it's completely different. Just a heads-up for people who liked it before or want to try it thinking it will be the same. A real shame...

Calakmul restaurant and Lounge is now open for dinner and drinks everyday at 4pm.

The Executive Chef, Alberto was schooled in Chili than moved to Puerto Vallarta where he has been refining his skills for the passed 6 years.

Make sure to not miss our "SUPERBOWL" party and new TV's including the 42".

We want to thank all our customers for the business this winter season.

Calakmul Restaurant and Lounge is now open from Noon to Midnite. We have a very satisfying and moderately priced lunch along with a new Dinner menu.

Come enjoy the ocean breezes upstairs while enjoying an appetizer and entree for lunch and be sure to enjoy free internet with your laptop computer.

For you sportsters we have 3 TV's up to 42". Sports events are playing daily and special drink and appetizers during major events.

Enjoy a cold drink while waiting for your bus back to Puerto Vallarta.

Stay tuned for our breakfast menu....

Muchos Gracias,
Management

I haven't seen this before in Sayulita. I was having a drink at the Calakmul bar. I heard a few people excited below in the restaurant so I had to look. A group of 8 were giving the chef a standing ovation. Hhmmm, so I ate there the following evening with my wife. They were right.... Alberto's food is excellent. This place is a different place now. I always enjoyed the music upstairs, now I can enjoy the food downstairs. I am not sure what all happened when the place opened, but this place is definitely in contention for the best food in Sayulita.

It no longer exists. There appears to be a new restaurant preparing to open at the same location.
