The owner of the house we rented recommendaed a new restaurnt to us - Mexotic. I was skeptical b/c the menu is a hard to describe fusion of Mexican, Asian, and other influences. BUT....

Wow! The place was easily the best resturant we tried in Sayulita. The beef special I enjoyed -- featuring some huitlacoche reduction -- was possibly the best beef dish I've enjoyed anywhere. Other entrees -- the pasta my kids had, and my wife's fish -- were equally remarkable.

The menu items are all incredibly unique. In a retaurant world (not just Sayulita, but everywhere) dominated by dishes that are largely derivative of dishes you eaten previously, Mexotic is creating entirely unique dishes that stand out in terms of novelty, quality, and taste. Also, the staff and owner/chef could not have been nicer (they'll customize any dish to your liking, in case you have finicky eaters in your party)

Do NOT miss this restaurant while you are in town. I'm hard to impress, but this place is off the charts good.

I agree with everything you say about the food and the staff. I only hope that their success leads them to finding a better location. That little stretch of the street is now flooded with restaurants, all with tables in the street and the noise can sometimes be deafening--especially that screechingly loud music coming from the cafe right next door. We have eaten there twice and really loved the food and wish them continued success in another, hopefully quieter location.

I am fired up to try this place. Everyone seems to love it. I could literally sustain myself with tacos when I am down there, but I also realize I need to eat a full meal every once in a while.

YUM is right. They have moved and have a gorgeous location. On the road to Punta Mita at Higuera Blanca in the old Mirador palapa. Ate there this week. There is a view of the ocean and mountains, the garden is beautiful ( they pick the greens fresh from the garden), lovely breeze from the ocean and of course the food is fantastic. Great place to stop if you are going to Mita or returning from a surf. Worth the trip just for the food and atmosphere.

Daniel and his family are my neighbors and I will post their phone number and amazing Christmas Eve dinner menu tomorrow. You really must see their garden, organic and bug free, which is just a miracle here! Be sure to take a sweater in the afternoon, their hilltop location makes for a chilly dinner...
