Just got back from a week in Sayulita and my husband and I agreed that it was some of the tastiest food we have had in Mexico. For Breakfast we loved the meal we had at Rollies. El Espresso was also good and we really really loved Paninos bacon egg and cheese sandwiches and pastries. Choco Banana was just ok for me but my husband got some toritilla egg wrao with chorizo and liked it.
Lunches we usually did at the Pizza place across from Don Pedro's, the fruit stand by the beach or the fish/shrimp taco stand near the beach. The pizza was really delicious and you saw people all over the beach eating it and saying how good it was. My husband also got a Burrito at Burrito Revolution which he loved, but I tasted it and thought the pork meat was not very flavorful.
Dinner we did at Leyza on the Plaza one night and it was delicious, but what had us going back was the guac and warm salsa. I have never had a better salsa before in my life and was addicted! They roast the vege's beforehand and then blend them together. Unfortunately the service is pretty hit or miss. The upstairs waiter was fantastic as was the bartender, but downstairs the waiter would ignore us for 15-20 minutes on two seperate occasions before even approaching us to ask us what we wanted to drink. Then I accidently ordered the cold salsa and when we explained the mistake and sent it back and requested the warm salsa the waiter was clearly irritated, didnt bring it and ignored us the rest of the night. We had to order it from someone else and we ended up just leaving without ordering dinner.
We also ate at Antonias which was delicious! Excellent gauc, even better fried shrimp tacos, tasty dinner
Next up was the Original Fish Taco Stand, which we were really excited about. Unfortunately it was not that good. My mango margaritas were delicious but the gauc was bland and the fish tacos were awful!!! Really bland, watery and the tortilla was disgusting, thick and slimey. All in all it was pretty awful, the worst meal we had all week for sure.
We ate at Ivan's taco stand in front of la fiesta a number of times...AMAZING!!!! Dont miss it. The pork is perfectly spiced, the salsas are perfect and the little slice of pineapple they put in each pork taco is the perfect sweet flavor addition to the tacos!
I wish we had more time to explore and eat at more places!

Thank you so much for the thorough post, I keep looking for some recent restaurant recommendations and they are so hard to come by. I especially appreciate that you explained what/WHY you did/didn't like about each place. Can't wait to try Ivan's and a couple other places!

Also checkout tacos on the street...on righthand side of boulavard 1 block before the bridge- beef and vegi tacos, originally made famous in La Cruz

Antonia's is on Ninos Heroes, just up a door or two from Revolucion. Head south on Revolucion from the plaza and veer to the right at the first corner. YUM!!
