Our group had the great pleasure of dining at one of Sayulita's newest 'hot spots'. It's called 'Lupe'. At the time it was so new that Lupe did not have the signs up but hopefully now they are up and you can find your way to a great culinary event. We were blown away by the food and elegant presentation. We're all 'foodies'and are pretty discerning about food and we consider this restaurant a real find. Cloth table coverings and napkins and great service. Lupe, the owner, has incredible family recipes which we tried to pry out of her to no avail. We're just going to have to keep coming back. We're returning to Sayulita in April and can hardly wait to go to Lupe's again. Keep up the good work and good luck to you, Lupe.

I didn't want to write about how much we love Lupe because it is a small room and we were worried that word would get out and we wouldn't be able to get a table anymore! Anyhow, this wonderful, wonderful restaurant is still waiting to be discovered and so I'm writing now. We have been about five times, perhaps more. At first the service was shaky but has improved greatly. What hasn't changed is the quality of the food, which we find to be outstanding. A friend of ours, the Executive Chef at one of Ottawa's premier restaurants, was so blown away by it that he went again the next night. A group of friends from Montreal, "foodies" all who really know their stuff, went for the second time on their last night, as a treat. The food is simplicity itself, absolutely perfect without any unnecessary fanfare or useless add-ons. Every dish we have sampled has left us wanting to come back again.
The room is enclosed, with mild air-conditioning (a good thing, being on a noisy, dusty road). It is a beautiful room (some think it may be too bright though), white with bold splashes of colour and beautiful, unusual Mexican art on the walls. Upi, the owner, is sweetness personified with always a warm welcome.

Lupe Restaurant just reopened and both times we went the food was exceptional; far beyond our expectations.
The Veracruz fish, the carrot soup, spinach timbal, the mole....all great. The La Chamiza Reserve was the best malbec wine I've ever had, hands down. Finally, the homemade fig ice cream was scary. it was so good. Thanks for such a great food experience.

I have lived and travelled around Mexico and have had meals in many restaurants, in Sayulita I never expected to find a first class restaurant that specializes in authentic Mexican food. At Lupe's we had a magnificent meal, good service and were able to select a nice wine from the menu. If you find yourself in Sayulita, I would highly recommend you having dinner at Lupe's restaurant.

Lupes could easily compete with any restaurant in san francisco, LA, New York, etc. the food is fantastic, best meal we had in sayulita. and Lupe herself is true delight, she is so involved and friendly and knowledgable about the community. i hope she has great success here.

Right below Las Graditas and next to Jungle Hair sort of across from Rollies. It appears to be closed.
Lupe's is closed and is for sale.
Upi has moved, for most part, to Valle de Bravo where she has some great business opportunities and if I know Upi she is also becoming involved in animal rescue and spay and neuter clinics on some level. I hope she returns to Sayulita......she was such an asset to the community!
