Thank you for posting this. Any idea if the 080 # will work from US based cell providers while in Sayulita or if there is another # we must dial? Same with the suspicious activity #.

Thanks.

Dialing 080 will only work from Mexican cell phones. Please dial 01-329-291-0049 from foreign cell phones. Program this number into your cell for any emergencies. This call goes directly to the office in Valle, 24 hours a day.

Are there any English-speaking folks at these phone numbers?

Are there different emergency numbers based on where one is? Apparently the emergency number for Sayulita area is 066 but in Puerto Vallarta it is 060? If there are mutliple numbers based on location, is there a list of all these numbers somewhere?

The Emergency number to be called from our area is 066, this is the land line number. This number can be dialed from all home and office phones, phone booths, etc. It is answered in Puerto Vallarta, but they dispatch out from Bucerias, Valle de Banderas, Jarretederas, etc. It depends on the need for service, such as police service, fire service, medical service, etc.
If you have a cell phone, please dial 080 and you will be directed to Puerto Vallarta as well. I have used these numbers personally from our area and the police were dispatched and arrived immediately. It is fully functioning and available to aid you when in need.

I am asking this for the non-Spanish speakers who may need to dial these numbers.

Some of the dispatchers do speak some English, but not all. They are really doing all that they can to grow in this area, due to the increase in foreign residents/vacationers. I do not have an emergency services number to call for English Only Speakers. I do know some folks who have had to call, and spoken very little Spanish. In an emergency just getting the location and the problem across is good.

Should someone need to handle a non-emergency situation, there are other phone numbers to call:
Such as Ministerio Publico in Bucerias 329-298-0069-----for police reports, civil paperwork, and more. But you will have to go to the office for any paperwork you want filed, that is the way of it here.

I hope this information has helped you, and if you need more, please advise.
Heather

Heather,

Does the 066 number work in Puerto Vallarta too or is there a different number to dial while in Puerto Vallarta?

As far as I know, you dial 060 from Puerto Vallarta. I think this has to do with it being a different area code. It is the telephone number on the side of their polce vehicles.
